Anamaria Marinca, a Romanian-born actress. Her screen debut came in the Channel 4 film Sex Traffic and was the recipient of the British Academy Television Award for Best actress. She is fluent in French, German English, as well as Romanian. Her father, a professor of theater at one of Romania's top drama schools, is also an instructor in theatre. The actress won the Best Female Actor Award for the Year 2000 in The Mangalia Young Actor Gala. In 2008 The European Film Promotion Board recognized her as the first European Shooting Star. She also was awarded numerous prizes for her performance in 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days a Romanian Art Film. In 2007, she starred as a character in the Romanian film 4 luni 3 saptamani si2 zile (4 Three Weeks, Four Months 4 Months 3 Weeks and 2 Days), produced by Cristian Mungiu (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days). The film won two awards at Cannes Film Festival (the Cinema Prize from the French National Education System & the FIPRESCI Prize). Youth Without Youth, a Francis Ford Coppola movie, was also a major part of her career. She played Yasim Awar in the BBC's 5 episode The Last Enemy miniseries. Marinca has appeared in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven and the Romanian drama Boogie. She later as the role of Irma's German aunt in Fury the film, which came out in the year 2014.
